Are you ready for Run For The Oceans? This year, the movement to end plastic pollution through sport is returning!
Save the date. Join millions of athletes around the world who are conscious on May 9 by signing up for the adidas Running App. We’re all in this together.
Every 10 minutes that you run from May 23 to June 8, adidas and Parley for Oceans will remove the equivalent weight of 1 plastic bottle, with a maximum weight of 250.000kg/500.000lbs.
Our fitness community is challenged to prove that Impossible Is Nothing. Can you help us?
The future of our oceans appears bleak on the surface. We see potential.
Our planet needs our help. Our ecosystem is being tipped over the edge by plastic pollution.
Ocean plastic pollution facts
Plastic pollution impacts at least 700 marine animals
Plastics take centuries to degrade.
The plastic that sea creatures ingest ends up in our bodies
91% of plastics in the world are not recycled
Every minute, the equivalent of one garbage truck worth of plastic is dumped in our oceans.
We asked adidas Runtastic ambassadors about the ocean and their motivations for participating in Run For The Oceans. Julia Wameser, adidas Running captain in Tokyo, said:
The ocean reminds of me where we came from. The ocean is the source of all life, and it’s a very powerful element. I run to the ocean to help clean it up, and to maintain the cycle of life. Not just for us but for all living things, from the smallest plankton to the largest creatures on our beautiful planet.

What can I do?
Say No to Plastic Straws
Use reusable bottles of water (glass or stainless steel).

Recycling programs are available.
Avoid beauty products containing microbeads
Take part in a beach clean-up event in your community
Julia, our ambassador, says:
Human convenience is a big reason why plastics are polluting the environment. It’s more convenient to buy single-use products than to wash them and store them to reuse. We should always be thinking ahead. You can use an eco-bag instead of plastic bags. When you leave home, make sure to have.
You can track marine-saving action by the minutes that you track.
Since 2015, adidas and Parley for Oceans have worked together. Parley is a nonprofit dedicated to the conservation of our oceans and marine life.
Parley’s Global Cleanup Operations have cleaned up plastic waste on beaches, islands, rivers, mangroves and the high seas. They’ve also intercepted plastics headed for the ocean in coastal communities.
Parley for the Oceans, with over 400,000 volunteers spread across 30 countries from Argentina to Australia, is growing in popularity. The goal is to have a presence in every country that has a coast by 2030.
Ocean Guardians are making a positive impact through education, engagement in the community, collaborations and innovative products.
